Tyra Banks's Modeling Tips | Everon Clarke

There's no one better than Tyra to give excellent modeling tips and advice to those who dream of gracing the covers of magazines or strutting their stuff on the catwalks of high fashion. To help you with your entry to Tyra Banks's Fiercely Real Model Contest (which could be your big break!), Tyra shares these exclusive tips with Seventeen readers!
Model Don'ts (and a Do)
  • Do not be a "no-neck monster." Try to elongate your neck for maximum extension.
  • Do not pose like a hoochie. (If you don't know what a hoochie is, er...that's probably best.)
  • Do not be a limp noodle. Always pose with tension in your body completely from H2T (head to toe).
  • Do not play it safe and stay in the same pose. Mix it up with innovative poses. Your wildest pose could be the one that's picked.
  • Do not show up to a photo shoot unless you are clean shaven, have a clean face, and clean hair.
  • Do not let hating how your hair or makeup is done affect your performance. Model through it.
  • Do not stare aimlessly when posing. Create intensity for the camera through your eyes. Smize (smile with your eyes)!
  • Do not slouch on the runway; pretend you have a wire through your spine that is pulling you up to the ceiling.
  • Do not be forgettable. Make an impression by showing your distinctive personality.
  • Do request to have your favorite music playing when you do a shoot! The beat will kick your poses up 10 notches!
Modeling: Breaking Into the Biz
  • Pick a favorite model and study them. Everything from the way they turn their head to their fierce runway walk.
  • Snapshots. You MUST have a beauty shot, from the neck up, before going anywhere. Have a friend with a nice camera take one in black and white!
  • Study, Study, Study. As Tyra always says on America's Next Top Model, you need to know everything from fashion designers, photographers, supermodels, and all in between.
From No-Sees to Go-Sees!
Go-sees are one of the crucial things that a beginner model must know about. Tyra went on 10 go-sees a day in Paris! Here are some tips on how to make a lasting impression (at a go-see or an interview)
  • Be prepared! Practice your walk, poses, and faces in the mirror before you go.
  • Do your homework! Know something about the agency or client and be aware of scams. Not everything out there is legit!
  • Your make-up should be minimal to show off your natural beauty.
  • ALWAYS bring a pair of heels in case they ask you to walk.
  • No nail polish: Simple clear, nude, or sheer!
  • Pull your hair back so that they can see your face and bone structure.
  • Never be late!
  • Have good posture: Stand up straight, shoulders back.
  • Be honest! It's okay to tell them if you don't have a lot of experience. Wow them with your natural ability (this is why practice is so important!)
    How To Work Your Flaws
    Everyone has flaws. I've got 'em (small calves and a big forehead), you've got 'em, and your momma's got em', too! Even though I totally believe in embracing my flaws, I don't always want to highlight them when I'm being photographed. Every top model knows the secrets to working her flaws. These are my tips on how to make your flaws work for you when you're in front of that camera!
    • Hands on Hips = Smaller Waist. Putting your hands on your hips creates a background through your arms, which will make your waist appear smaller. (This is something you can apply to real life too! Try it the next time you walk into a room!)
    • Chin Up = Smaller Forehead. I am always telling the girls on ANTM to chin up! Not only will it make a large forehead look smaller, it will also elongate the neck.
    • Tippy Toes = Bigger Calves. Standing on your tippy toes instead of flat feet will make your calf muscles appear bigger because they are working harder to keep you up!
    • Knees In = Slimmer Hips. Turning a knee in will make your hips appear slimmer. This will also give you a space between your thighs, which is something that most women don't have.
    • Lean Forward = Smaller Bust. Hunch your back and bring your naval into your spine. This creates a slight lean forward, which will make your bust look smaller.
    • Emphasize Shoulder = Narrow Hips. Turn your body to the side and turn your shoulders toward the camera. The emphasis on your shoulders will narrow your hips.

Everon Clarke - The Most Preferred Places to Work in Fashion World



Everybody loves to wear latest fashion designs whether rich or common. Fashion is not about the dresses only points out Everon Clarke. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” That may be why her namesake house was ranked tops by far in a WWD survey to answer a simple question: What is the most desired company to work for in fashion?

Chanel’s quote reflects a deeply embedded passion that people have for the industry — which might be especially true for Millennials, who crave authenticity as well as belonging to something larger than themselves.

The schools invited to participate included The Fashion Institute of Technology; Savannah College of Art and Design; LIM College; Pratt Institute; Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising; University of Westminster; University of Creative Arts; University of Brighton; London College of Fashion, and the Royal College of Art, among others.

The survey included a list of companies from which respondents could choose, and they also could write in their own selection.

In the social media poll conducted through Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, the top five firms were Chanel at number one and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in the second spot, which was followed by Christian Dior SE in third and Alexander Wang and Diane von Furstenberg in fourth and fifth, respectively. Sixth was Kate Spade, which was followed by Marc Jacobs and H&M. Ninth was Burberry Group plc, which was followed by Prada SpA in 10th.

By comparison, the students’ top 10 picks swapped out Christian Dior SE, H&M, Burberry Group and Prada with Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo SpA, Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. and Armani. Chanel and LVMH held onto their top two positions in the student responses. For the complete list, see page 36.
Key themes emerged in the responses for both polls, as well as in one-on-one interviews. For example, in describing why they chose the companies, participants’ responses were highly emotional and passionate as well as thoughtful. There was also a high level of conviction.

Respondents used words such as “dreamy” and “iconic” as well as “amazing” in describing their more desirable fashion firms. This idealism was blended with preferences for companies that practiced sustainability, offered a positive work environment and helped employees grow and develop their careers. Respondents were also in awe of the legacy of the companies cited as most desirable.

“Gabrielle Chanel is my icon and I love her work, and what she did with fashion — she changed the world with her work and to work for the brand she created is a dream,” one respondent said. “And let’s not forget Karl [Lagerfeld]; he’s another person I look up to, so there’s no other place that I’d like to be working.”
“During Mademoiselle Gabrielle’s time, women were expected to dress according to cultural norms, which included gowns,” wrote another respondent. “She broke that norm with her unique masculine twist to women’s clothing. Chanel has continued to break fashion norms for women. But then again, as breaking the rules in the fashion world became regular, this iconic brand stuck to the classics of the modern woman, which are the skirts, blouses and blazers. It shows that tradition never fades…whatever Chanel invents shall never be forgotten.”

Many of the “why” responses were social in nature. One respondent cited Chanel as desirable because, “I am a feminist and so was she,” the respondent said. “Tracing the steps.”
Another, who cited L’Oréal as a highly desirable employer, said so because, “As the number-one beauty brand in the world, I would love to work for a global beauty brand who is dedicated to empowering women all over the world.” Another favored von Furstenberg because the brand “stands for strong, confident women.”

Although not on the top lists, one respondent said BCBG Max Azria was most desirable because the “company values their employees. That is shown through their pay, their training and their will to develop their employees.” Of Kering, one respondent noted, “I currently intern for a Kering brand and I find the company to be very sustainable. It is a positive work environment.”

Students from New York-based LIM College who were interviewed in-person echoed many of the same sentiments seen in the online comments. These fashion merchandising and marketing seniors said they would seek industry jobs that offered opportunities for growth while providing a collaborative work environment led by managers who were invested in their employees and supportive of their career development.
Tatiana Patterson, a visual merchandising senior at LIM, is part of the school’s co-op program, which has students working 28 hours a week at major retailers and fashion apparel firms. About half the students are offered positions upon graduation. Patterson is placed at Lululemon Athletica and described the experience as being “like a family.”

“It’s also an outlet for my creativity,” she told WWD. “And [for consumers], it’s more than just about buying clothes. It’s about inspiring people. You’re creating a community.”

This idea of the fashion industry as a community of people and products was shared by Patterson’s classmates, who also said narrative and storytelling were critical in the process of delivering fashion apparel to consumers. They described the process in terms of creating memorable experiences for everyone involved, and not just for consumers. LIM students said they wanted jobs that they looked forward to going to each day. After all, they would be spending more time at work than with their own families.
“The workplace is important and pay is, but you want to love want you do,” said Samantha Svorinich, a fashion merchandising major from Staten Island.

Everon Clarke - Atea Oceanie's siizzling fashion line simply might bump Armani



Atea Oceanie is a well known fashion line famous in both public and celebrities says Everon Clarke. Everybody is loving its new styles designed. A decade ago, if a starlet wasn’t on the red carpet she was most likely dressed in a Juicy Couture tracksuit. Things have surely changed.


These days, low-key style in Hollywood is defined by complex, nondescript basics — and none are as popular than those from Atea Oceanie.
In just three years, the under-the-radar London-based line, established by 37-year-old Laura Myers, has become a no-brainer for with-it celebrities, offering chic, simple, surprisingly cost-effective staples that blend “’90s minimalism with modern American sportswear,” as Myers tells The Post.
“The collection was created from a gap I saw in my own wardrobe,” Myers says of her infant label, a hit with everyone from Dakota Johnson and Amber Heard to Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. “I was traveling a lot at the time and felt the need for pieces that I could return to again and again and wear in many different ways.”
After graduating from Brown University in 2002 with a degree in sociology, the New Zealand-born-and-raised Myers enrolled in summer courses at the Parsons School of Design before interning at major houses like Ralph Rucci in New York and Louis Vuitton in Paris.

By 2010, the designer had moved to London, where a few years later she officially launched Atea Oceanie for fall 2013. The name — a Tahitian phrase meaning “something distant and remote” — was inspired by her life as a globe-trotter who’s still connected to her distant homeland.
Since then, the brand has seen enough A-list endorsements to rival the likes of Armani. One of the biggest was from Selena Gomez, who sent style scribes racing to their keyboards when she was snapped at a party in Los Angeles last summer rocking the label’s ivory viscose slip dress. Kristen Stewart did the same, eschewing her uniform of skinny jeans and Keds for a white Atea Oceanie suit at a January screening. The look was cool-girl incarnate — and quickly one of her best to date.



“It’s great that Atea Oceanie has become a go-to for women as diverse as Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart and Selena Gomez — women with an effortless sense of style,” Myers says. “I think the attitude of the clothes appeals to celebrities as it reflects the fluidity of modern women’s lives and their need to be able to move seamlessly between a variety of situations.”
To that end, Myers has focused on offering seasonless dresses and separates in mostly neutral tones that can be dressed up or down. Case in point: the brand’s signature blazer, which Elizabeth Olsen has worn both casually for errand runs and more formally to film festival events, and the neoprene bodysuit — an unassuming foundational piece for some of their more statement-making ensembles.
But it’s not just West Coast glitterati sipping the Atea Oceanie tea: Instagram’s Eva Chen and Leandra Medine, of popular fashion blog Man Repeller, lead the constituency of well-heeled New Yorkers charmed by the wallet-friendly line, in which tops start at $115 and jackets, pants and dresses run mostly from $300 to $500. Chen was spotted sporting an Atea Oceanie sweater during New York Fashion Week in September, while Medine has taken to Instagram on several occasions to profess her love of their double-breasted blazer.
“Atea Oceanie somehow manages to reach a wide customer base through a variety of styles while keeping the overall brand look very streamlined,” says Bo Kim, owner of Upper West Side boutique bocnyc, one of three New York City retailers that stock the collection. (Barneys and the Line are the other two.) Kim says the brand’s sales have been strong in the time since her store picked it up for the fall 2015 season, adding that shoppers are particularly impressed by Atea Oceanie’s attention to details, such as a concealed zipper closure at the side of a current-season skirt designed to ensure a polished fit.
It’s a sentiment echoed by Kristi Mikesky, features editor at style Web site the Zoe Report.
“I really appreciate the line’s innate wearability, neutral color palette and emphasis on classic silhouettes,” says the Los Angeleno, who plans on investing in pieces this season. “They’re smartly catering to the market’s growing need for versatile, timeless staples, and the attention to detail makes each piece feel special.”

Everon Clarke - OMG Beyoncé's Work out Fashion Line is Launched Finally



Everon Clarke points out that Beyonce is among the favorite of all. As all celebs have done it previously; she is also launching her work out fashion line. For this she also launched a video while working out in a park with a kid. The Fashion line looked good for ladies fond of work out emphasized Everon Clarke.  

BIG news this morning is Beyoncé, your music queen, is officially releasing her own fashion line―not a alliance line, as many celebs have done before her, but rather producing her very own Bey-originals. 

Beyoncé's uncovered another way to run the world. Or at the very minimum, broaden her empire.

Bey is releasing a range of workout gear, dubbed "Ivy Park," which is named after daughter Blue Ivy and Parkwood Park, a Houston spot she used to frequent as a child.

  To help celebrate the big news, Queen B will be gracing the May cover of Elle and Elle UK, where in a rare interview she talks about "freedom, feminism, and how her new fashion line helps women love their bodies," according to the publisher.

The "Formation" singer also released a two-minute YouTube commercial to promote the new line, filmed in Parkwood Park and featuring her 4-year-old daughter.

"I would wake up in the morning and my dad would come knocking on my door, tell me it's time to go running. I remember wanting to stop, but I would push myself to keep going," she says in the clip. "I would think about the hardships my parents made for me. I would think about my little sister and how I was her hero ... there are things I'm still afraid of. When I have to overcome those things, I go back to that park."

The name of the line is IVY PARK and the goods (which, will undoubtedly be goooood, because Beyoncé) won't actually be available on Bey's website―The sporty fashion line will be readily available April 14 and sold exclusively at Nordstrom, Topshop and Zalando.

She also announced the news on Instagram, captioning her photo @weareivypark, whose landing page links to the brand's website, ivypark.com.

The brand is a joint venture with Sir Philip Green, who's chairman of ArcadiaGroup, which owns Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and other retailers.
